If you’re seeing a message like “You’ve Already Linked Your Credit Cards” or your Home Depot / Citi account won’t reconnect through Plaid, don’t worry — this is usually caused by an existing authorization already saved on Citi’s side.
Why This Happens?
Citi sometimes keeps a previously approved connection active for Plaid/Rentastic. When you try reconnecting again, Citi blocks the new authorization because it believes the account is already linked.
How to Fix It?
1. Log in to your Citi account
2. Go to Profile → Linked Apps and Websites
3. Find Rentastic (or the Plaid aggregator connection)
4. Remove/Delete the existing linked app connection
5. Return to Rentastic and reconnect your account again
Once removed, the Plaid OAuth connection flow should proceed normally and allow you to reconnect successfully.
Example Error Screen
The screenshot below is an example of the issue users commonly see before removing the old linked app authorization.
“You've Already Linked Your Credit Cards”
“You have no more cards to add right now.”
After removing the old authorization from Citi, reconnecting through Rentastic should work correctly.
